Breakfast is usually the most difficult meal of the day for me when I’m sticking to Weight Watchers — especially on weekdays.
I hate getting up any earlier than I absolutely have to, and it takes every bit of discipline I have just to get myself up in time to go walking with my husband and puppy most work mornings. Setting the alarm 10 minutes earlier to make myself a points-friendly breakfast just isn’t going to happen. The only way I manage to eat a Weight Watchers suitable breakfast is to plan something portable that I can eat on the short drive to work or heat up in the microwave at work.
And yet, I have learned from my past Weight Watchers successes and challenges that breakfast really is the most important meal of my day. Starting out my day with a high-fiber and high-protein (yet still low-fat and low-calorie) meal makes a world of difference. Especially the protein — which is the toughest item for me to consistently plan into something I can just grab and take with me on work mornings.
Fortunately, I’ve discovered Jimmy Dean’s D-Lights Turkey Sausage Muffins!
For a quick frozen breakfast that gets reheated in a microwave, these muffins are out of this world. The lean turkey sausage patties actually taste good enough to want to eat as part of a normal weekend breakfast. And the whole wheat muffin does not get soggy when reheated. Best of all, these are comparable in points to Weight Watchers’ Smart Ones breakfasts, but are cheaper and far better tasting.
